What can I expect during my first visit?
On your first visit, your doctor of chiropractic will ask you to fill in a health history form and will review your case history and current health with you. Your chiropractor will then give you a complete examination, consisting of various testing procedures appropriate to your individual condition. A "report of findings" and a course of care will be recommended.
Will I have to undress?
To properly exam and treat your spine, women will be provided a full-length gown while men might simply remove their shirts. We will always uphold the patient's dignity with utmost care, and gowning or adequate cover will be available to all patients.
Will I be treated on my first visit?
In most cases, yes. Since pain is usually the reason a person comes to our clinic, some form of natural pain relief will be provided. If the consultation and examination reveal sufficient information to establish both a working diagnosis and if you are a candidate for chiropractic care, you will receive an adjustment.
What is a chiropractic adjustment?
A chiropractic adjustment is the primary treatment used by doctors of chiropractic to restore balance to your spinal column and nervous system, allowing the natural healing powers of your body to function. It is a very fast, non-forceful movement of joint usually done by the highly trained hands of your chiropractor. Most often, a popping sound is heard for felt by the patient.
Does it hurt?
New patients are pleasantly surprised to find out that they typically feel no pain from a chiropractic adjustment and, in fact, afterwards they often report experiencing feelings of relief, greater mobility and a feeling of well being, knowing they are in "good hands".
